Business Strategy

Our ambitious plans to support the West Berkshire economy

West Berkshire's local economy has long been strong and resilient, with a high number of businesses representing a diverse range of industries, a well-qualified workforce and an excellent natural environment.

We aim to work with businesses on delivering the economy goals that will benefit the district and the businesses who work here.

Working to the 2036 West Berkshire Vision, the Council Strategy theme of 'open for business' and aligning with Thames Valley Berkshire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) strategies, we developed actions in the four areas seen to have the most relevance locally.

People - good jobs and greater earning power for all in West Berkshire

Places - creating prosperous communities across West Berkshire

Infrastructure - future-proofing West Berkshire's infrastructure

Business Environment - making West Berkshire the best place to start a grow a business

West Berkshire has faced various challenges to local economic recovery and renewal following the Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore we reviewed and adapted our strategy in 2021 to outline the items that are still relevant as well as areas which are now critical to us to establish Economic Growth and prosperity.

Delivery Plan

In the coming months and years, as the lasting effects of the pandemic become clearer, we intend to work with our partners, including businesses, the Thames Valley Berkshire LEP and other stakeholders to restore what we have lost, build on what we have gained and to galvanise West Berkshire's position as a great place to live, work and do business.
